Exhibits

'Night, Smoke and Shadows'
This exhibition, named "Night, Smoke and Shadows: The Presence of Atmosphere in the 19th Century," includes prints, drawings and photographs by artists such as James McNeill Whistler, Max Klinger, Felicien Rops and Alvin Langdon Coburn. Wednesday-Sunday, May 14-Oct. 5, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursdays til 8 p.m. (after September 21, the center will also be open Mondays). Free. Cantor Arts Center, 328 Lomita Drive, Stanford.

Dance

Social Ballroom Dancing
Social ballroom dancing takes place every Friday and Saturday throuhgout the year at Cubberley Pavilion, starting at 8 p.m. with a lesson followed by general dancing. Go to www.cubberleyballroom.com for lesson schedule. No experience or partner necessary. Cover includes refreshments. 8 p.m.-midnight. $9. For the Love of Dance offers training in ballet, jazz, tap and other styles of dance. Serving Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Sunnyvale, it is a family-owned studio that teaches dance to children and adults at all levels of ability.
